What is the difference between soft-tip and steel-tip darts?
The main difference between soft-tip and steel-tip darts lies in the tip of the darts and the type of dartboard. Steel-tip darts have metal tips and are thrown at a classic sisal or bristle dartboard. The darts stick in the board, and the points are usually counted manually. Steel-tip darts are considered the traditional version and are also played in major professional tournaments. The darts are usually a bit heavier, which gives many players a smoother and more controlled throwing experience.
Soft-tip darts, on the other hand, have plastic tips. They are played on an electronic dartboard, which automatically registers hits and displays the scores directly, eliminating the need for manual scoring. Soft-tip darts are generally lighter than steel-tip darts, and the electronic scoring system and various game modes make soft-tip darts particularly beginner-friendly.
