Letter H

It might sound dry, but it's important: Every MERKUR Arcade has its house rules posted near the bar, and they apply to all our guests. Have you ever taken a look at them?

The hopper is the coin payout mechanism inside a slot machine. When you cash out your credits at the end of the game, the corresponding coins are transported upward from the hopper into the coin tray.

Letter L

But first: coffee, please!

Lavazza is our coffee partner at MERKUR Arcades. Our fully automatic coffee machines serve you a variety of specialty coffees* in the finest Lavazza quality.

Level bits indicate the size of your bet: anything from 10 to 200 bits is possible per device and game.

Level bits can be converted 1:1 to cents. So if you're playing with 20 level bits, one spin of the reels will cost you 20 cents.

In the context of arcades, the word “license” has three different meanings:

  • A "territoral" licence in an arcade is the official permission to operate gaming machines, whereby each licence usually allows for a certain number of machines. In Germany, a maximum of twelve gaming machines are allowed per licence. But: One arcade is allowed to provide several licences. The licences are physically separated from each other and have different names. Common names for licences include Fortuna, for example.
  • Game Licensing: Before a new game is released, it is thoroughly reviewed by independent testing agencies. This is done on a game-by-game basis, but is usually conducted collectively once or twice a year for new game bundles.
  • Operating licence: Every arcade operator must obtain an operating permit in the form of a license. The process may vary by state or municipality, but generally requires an operating permit under the Trade Regulation Act (through the local trade office or regulatory authorities) as well as an arcade operating permit (through the respective municipal or county authority).

Logging out is the final step when playing slot machines at our MERKUR Arcades. After you’ve initially unlocked the slot machine using an activation card or code, you’ll need to log out to release it again. You’ll usually find the button at the bottom of the screen, between the Bits fields.

Logging out is important so that both our service staff at the computer and other guests at the activation terminal can reassign or select the slot machine.
