Kick It

In poker , kick it simply means that a player raises the bet. Instead of just joining the action (“ callen ”) or bowing out gracefully (“folden”), they put more chips into the pot. Most of the time, this is done when the player has a really strong hand.

Sometimes, however, kick it is also used to pretend you have a good hand, hoping the others will fold. For this little trick, though, you need a poker face that even your closest friends can’t read. Otherwise, your expression basically spells out in big letters: “I’m bluffing. Please don’t look.”

Kicker

In poker, the kicker is an additional card that determines the winner when two players hold the same main combination. If both, for example, have a pair of queens, the player whose side card – the kicker – is higher wins. The kicker is therefore often the unassuming card that suddenly has the final say at the decisive moment.

Knock

Knock, is simply a check in poker. A player taps the table to show that they neither want to bet nor fold. It’s the quiet way of saying: “I’m staying in the hand, but I’m not taking any action for now.”

King

The king is one of the face cards and ranks directly below the ace in both blackjack and poker.

In poker, the king plays a more strategic role: many hands are decided by the highest single card (“high card”), and a king beats everything that isn’t an ace.

In blackjack , the king simply counts as 10 points – just like the queen and the jack. It’s part of the “team of tens”, reliably helping you get close to 21 in no time.

Fun fact:
KK is the nickname for a pair of kings. Kings are also called cowboys – yee-haw!
