The legendary disc machine MERKUR Disc: ruby-red game disc and golden frame – this popular classic appeared in such elegant attire and, with its unusual design, brought players great joy in gaming. The very first version of this machine alone was sold 40,000 times, and thus the MERKUR Disc shaped the slot machine landscape of the 1980s in Germany like no other.
Presented in 1984 at the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines (IMA), the MERKUR Disc was soon to make its rounds across Germany. This machine was designed as a disc machine and not, like the previous machines from adp Gauselmann, as a reel machine.
The first version of the MERKUR Disc, in contrast to its successors, boasted a very special feature: it was equipped with a risk ladder offering 100 free games. For this reason, this version of the machine is affectionately called the “100er Disc.” The following versions of the MERKUR Disc – the MERKUR Disc Olympia, the MERKUR Disc 2000, and the MERKUR Disco Disc – each offered only 50 free games and were delivered in different colour variants.
