In the race for the final Champions League spot, VfB Stuttgart has taken the lead and now heads to Frankfurt with a strong momentum. The convincing 3-1 victory over Leverkusen was perhaps Stuttgart’s strongest performance in recent weeks. Especially after falling behind early, Sebastian Hoeneß’s team showed an impressive response, playing dominantly and aggressively against the ball while creating chance after chance. Demirovic was virtually unstoppable, Undav and Führich constantly caused trouble, and defensively, VfB virtually shut down Leverkusen’s attacking line.
Frankfurt, on the other hand, suffered another bitter defeat in a 2-3 loss in Dortmund. Although Eintracht got off to a perfect start with Uzun’s early goal, they gradually lost control of the match. The SGE looked particularly vulnerable defensively, with Dortmund repeatedly finding too much space down the wings. Up front, individual quality shone through on several occasions, but overall, the Hessians lacked the necessary decisiveness and stability.

Prediction: The key factor will be which team handles the pressure better. St. Pauli usually defends with discipline, but has recently struggled on set pieces and in transition—precisely where Wolfsburg showed its strongest form against Bayern.
A real nail-biter is set to take place in Heidenheim on the final matchday. Thanks to their crucial 3-1 victory in Cologne, FCH has kept alive its chance of reaching the relegation playoff spot. Frank Schmidt’s team displayed exactly the qualities needed in the relegation battle: uncompromising in one-on-one duels, efficient in front of goal, and full of energy. Schöppner stood out in particular with his brace, while Ibrahimovic and Zivzivadze repeatedly created dangerous counterattacks. Especially after the break, Heidenheim looked much more aggressive and played with maximum determination.
Mainz, on the other hand, comes into the match off a disappointing 1-3 loss to Union Berlin. The Rheinhessen side completely slept through the opening stages and struggled greatly against Berlin’s aggressive style of play. Although Mainz improved significantly after halftime and pushed for the lead at times, they left too much space open defensively in the closing stages. Particularly noticeable: as soon as Union picked up the pace, Mainz increasingly lost control of the match.
Prediction: Heidenheim is likely to apply pressure from the start and try to capitalize on the crowd’s energy. If FCH plays as efficiently as they did in Cologne, their hopes of avoiding relegation could very well remain alive until the final minute.
