All predictions for Bundesliga Matchday 7 of the 2025/26 season ⚽ From Bayern vs. Dortmund to Leipzig vs. HSV. Current form, stats and betting tips at a glance.
After the international break, the Bundesliga is back in full swing – and Matchday 7 has plenty to offer. The spotlight, of course, is on the Saturday evening classic: first versus second, Bayern against Dortmund, floodlights, a packed stadium – the absolute top match of the weekend. The record champions aim to continue their perfect run, while BVB want to make a statement in the title race. Behind them, Leverkusen – unbeaten in eight competitive matches – and strong Leipzig are keeping pace at the top. At the bottom of the table, Heidenheim, Mainz and Gladbach fight to stay in touch, while Köln and Augsburg head into their direct duel full of confidence.
Union lost 0–2 in Leverkusen before the break and are still waiting for a win. Gladbach reacted with a 0–0 draw against Freiburg but remained toothless in attack. Both teams desperately need points – Union to move into mid-table, Gladbach to finally climb out of 17th place after collecting just three points so far.
Tip: Home win + both teams to score
Mainz were thrashed 0–4 in Hamburg, once again exposing defensive weaknesses. After their Conference League efforts, the Rheinhessen lacked freshness and creativity. Leverkusen are unbeaten in eight competitive matches and are hitting top form. Everything points to another win for Hjulmand’s side.
Tip: Away win
Leipzig drew 1–1 with Dortmund in the top clash and remain unbeaten in five league games. Romulo and Baumgartner bring plenty of pace in attack, though finishing remains an issue. HSV celebrated their second win of the season with a 4–0 victory in Mainz, showing clinical finishing. However, Leipzig away is a different challenge altogether.
Tip: Away win + over 3.5 goals
Wolfsburg’s 1–3 defeat in Augsburg was their third in a row – form remains poor. Lacking punch up front and making simple defensive errors, they look vulnerable. Stuttgart, on the other hand, won 1–0 against Heidenheim – their third home win to nil – and look solid as fourth in the table. The in-form Swabians are favourites here.
Tip: Away win + under 3.5 goals
Heidenheim fought bravely but lost 0–1 in Stuttgart, struggling to create chances – the absence of Conteh hurts. Bremen, meanwhile, claimed their first home win of the season with a 1–0 against St. Pauli and finally showed defensive stability. Both sides will look to build on that after the break.
Tip: Draw
Köln bounced back with a 1–0 win in Hoffenheim, showing compactness and efficiency. Youngster El Mala was the matchwinner, securing their third victory of the season. Augsburg ended their losing streak with a 3–1 win over Wolfsburg, looking sharper in attack. Both teams have momentum – but Köln appear the more stable side.
Tip: Home win
The classic encounter: Bayern come into the match with ten straight wins in all competitions and an impressive 3–0 at Frankfurt. Harry Kane scored his 11th goal of the season, though he limped off slightly – he’s expected to play. Dortmund drew 1–1 with Leipzig last time out, showing promise but lacking end product. BVB want to finally make a statement in Munich – but the record champions look too composed and consistent.
Tip: Home win + over 3.5 goals
Freiburg were held to a 0–0 draw in Gladbach before the break and have lacked efficiency in Europe too. Frankfurt travel after a 0–3 home loss to Bayern, their confidence shaken. The problem is clear: in their last four games, Eintracht have conceded 16 goals and scored only eight. Against compact Freiburg, Toppmöller’s side must urgently stabilise defensively to avoid more pressure.
Tip: Away win
St. Pauli’s 0–1 defeat in Bremen was their third straight loss. Their attacking play lacked precision, and debutant Kaars couldn’t provide a spark. Hoffenheim are also winless in three, wasting good chances against Köln thanks to goalkeeper Schwäbe’s heroics. Both sides need a turnaround, but Hoffenheim’s individual quality gives them the edge.
Tip: Away win
The classic under the floodlights – a top match only on paper? All of football Germany will be watching on Saturday evening as Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund – the eternal duel, this time first versus second. Yet at the moment, it seems a top match only by name: Bayern are the benchmark this season. Ten competitive games, ten wins, most recently a commanding 3–0 in Frankfurt – Kompany’s side are dominating the league at will. Harry Kane already has 11 goals, supported by in-form Olise and Luis Díaz. Defensively, the Munich side look rock-solid and virtually error-free.
Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, drew 1–1 with Leipzig before the break. The BVB defended well but lacked cutting edge up front. Guirassy and Adeyemi are expected to inject pace, while Brandt orchestrates play from midfield. To stand a chance in Munich, Kovac’s team need a major improvement, especially in finishing.
Historically, the duel is more balanced than one might think: in the last four meetings, both sides have one win and two draws each. Nevertheless, Bayern’s current form makes them the clear favourites. Dortmund will do everything to break the record champions’ streak.
Prediction: Bayern confirm their form and win the classic.
Pace meets efficiency: RB Leipzig are unbeaten in five league matches and have only lost to Bayern this season. The 1–1 draw in Dortmund once again showcased their maturity – they dominated phases of the match and could have won with better finishing. Their attacking trio of Romulo, Baumgartner and Bakayoko regularly threatens with pace and creativity.
HSV travel to Saxony full of confidence: the 4–0 over Mainz was their best performance of the season. Philippe scored twice, while Dompé and Capaldo added flair in attack. But Leipzig will be a different challenge – they press high, play aggressively and punish any mistakes instantly.
The last two meetings took place in the DFB Cup, with RB winning comfortably both times (4–0 and 3–1). The promoted side will likely be bold but will struggle to withstand Leipzig’s power for 90 minutes.
Prediction: RB Leipzig are a class above HSV and win 3–1.
Freiburg seeking relief – Frankfurt chasing momentum: SC Freiburg have gone three competitive games without a win, mainly struggling in attack. Their 0–0 draw in Gladbach showed defensive stability but little going forward. During the international break, they boosted confidence with a 7–0 friendly win over Karlsruher SC – now they aim to finally pick up three league points at home.
Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, are in a minor slump. The 0–3 defeat to Bayern again exposed their defensive issues. In their last four matches, they’ve conceded 16 goals and scored only eight. While their attack still shows flashes of quality, the balance between offence and defence is missing. To remain in the top half, a win in Freiburg is vital – especially with a tough Champions League trip to Liverpool just days away. A victory in the Black Forest could provide the confidence they need to avoid another setback at Anfield.
Prediction: Eintracht tighten up defensively and edge out Freiburg.
