Bundesliga Matchday Predictions for 2026/27 – Matchday 4

With a 2-1 win in Elversberg, Bayern secured the must-win victory they needed following their disappointing draw against Schalke. With seven points from three games, the team has firmly established itself in the top third of the standings. After their 1-3 loss to Schalke, Union has just one point from three games and continues to look unsettled. The difference in class is likely to be clearly evident at Säbener Straße.

Their perfect record and current form point to an exciting, high-scoring match.

Cologne has four points after three matchdays and is likely to arrive with a bit more confidence. Playing at home and under pressure, HSV should at least show more courage on offense. However, it will likely be a close call to get more than one point.

For a team with no European ambitions, four points from three games is a solid start. With seven points from three games, Augsburg is the third-best team in the league alongside Dortmund and Freiburg, and didn’t drop its first point until Matchday 3 against Leverkusen (2–2). The team in better form hails from Swabia.

Stuttgart dropped points again in their recent 1-2 loss at Hoffenheim and continues to fall short of expectations for a team competing in the Champions League. Three points from three games are clearly not enough given their own ambitions. Dortmund has gotten off to a flawless start to the season with three wins in three games and has already shown, in their comeback victory at Hoffenheim, that the team has the right mindset. The forward duo of Guirassy and Silva finally seems to be clicking. That’s exactly what makes BVB the clear favorite right now.

Following their 4-0 win over Union, Leverkusen dropped points for the second time this season with a 2-2 draw in Augsburg and continues to look vulnerable on defense. Consistency has been the Werkself’s biggest area of concern so far. Leipzig bounced back from their loss in Bremen with a decisive 5-0 victory over a Hamburg SV side that has yet to get a win this season. The Saxons’ fresh momentum should make the difference here by a narrow margin.

Schalke secured its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory in Berlin and heads into the home game with renewed confidence. Prior to that, the team had recorded a sensational draw against Bayern and suffered a loss. Elversberg suffered its first loss of the season in a 1-2 defeat to Bayern, but continued to play boldly and aggressively on the attack. Schalke, on the other hand, tends to adopt a more cautious approach and looks to capitalize on counterattacks, which is why the two styles of play could cancel each other out.

After three games, Paderborn is still waiting for its first goal of the season and recently suffered its worst loss of the season in a 0-3 defeat to Dortmund. Hoffenheim finally secured its first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart, after narrowly losing its first two games. Striker Adam Hlozek, in particular, who scored twice in the win against Stuttgart, is currently in fine goal-scoring form. The momentum is therefore clearly on the side of the visitors from Sinsheim.
