Sadly without Germany – but still a real highlight: England and Spain will face off in this year’s final of the women’s European football championship! But who will be crowned champion?
The semi-final couldn’t have been more dramatic. First, the Lionesses forced extra time with a last-minute goal in the 96th minute – and then came the final blow for Italy: yet another late strike sealed a 2–1 win for England. Incredible! The English side is in red-hot form and seem to have an answer for everything.
And Spain? They could sing a song about drama, too! After a goalless 90 minutes against the German team, and with extra time ticking away, it looked like a penalty shoot-out was looming. But then, heartbreak for Germany – and glory for Spain: Bonmatí scored in the 113th minute to secure the 1–0 win. Germany's dream ends here, Spain's continues to shine. Can they snatch the title from England?
England: 3–2 on pens vs. Sweden (Quarter-final), 2–1 vs. Italy (Semi-final)
Spain: 2–0 vs. Switzerland (Quarter-final), 1–0 vs. Germany (Semi-final)
