If the German side fail to stabilise, a home win for the Spaniards is on the cards.

A duel full of uncertainties looms between Villarreal and Copenhagen. The Yellow Submarine struggle with structure, intensity and defensive organisation. But Copenhagen’s win against Kairat does not conceal their prior problems either. Only if the Danes finally find more consistent balance will more points head back to Denmark. The momentum swing could result in a tight, nervous outcome.

Against crisis-hit Ajax, Qarabag sense another good opportunity. The brave surprise team from Azerbaijan have shown mature structure so far and find their way back into matches even after setbacks. Ajax, far behind and on the bottom of the table, appear unstable, defensively shaky and mentally fragile after the defeat to Benfica. A Qarabag win seems more realistic than an Ajax resurgence.

This top match appears highly explosive. Sitting in 5th place, Real’s slip against Liverpool should be almost forgotten following their goal-rich win in Piraeus — thanks to Mbappé’s four-goal show. Yet City’s fine mechanics, dominant possession and tactical maturity will make life difficult for the Spaniards. Despite a balanced head-to-head history, City’s rhythm currently appears more stable.

Borussia Dortmund vs. FK Bodø/Glimt
Dortmund had hoped to enter this Champions League duel with more momentum. Yet after the 4–0 against Villarreal came a Bundesliga win and then a DFB-Pokal exit against Leverkusen. Their regained stability seems fragile. However, as Bodø/Glimt are stuck in 32nd place, fight bravely but remain imprecise in build-up play and defensively unstable, much points to a BVB victory.

Juventus Turin vs. Pafos FC
In transition, Juventus travel to this tricky duel with the newcomer from Cyprus. After their first UCL win against Bodø/Glimt, the injury to Vlahović now intensifies their lack of attacking depth. Pafos arrive strengthened after a courageous 2–2 against Monaco and will likely target Juve’s compromised stability. With over 300 Champions League matches under their belt, however, a laboured Juve victory appears more realistic than a Pafos upset.

Without a clear favourite, this is a genuine form test between Leverkusen and Newcastle. Despite a strong midfield, Benfica remain limited in the Champions League and now face Conte’s structured, possession-oriented but also struggling Napoli. McTominay’s impact and a win against Qarabag could not fully conceal the Italians’ finishing problems. To prevail against Benfica’s compactness, they will need full commitment.

From a fluctuating Brugge performance curve — from the wild 3–3 against Barcelona to the 0–3 loss to Sporting and a harmless attacking display most recently — the inconsistent outsiders now meet table leaders Arsenal. The Gunners recently dominated the currently strong Bayern with a 3–1 win and showed top form. In this constellation, Arsenal should make short work of the Belgians.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Paris SG
Aside from occasional fighting spells, Bilbao remain stuck in 27th place: only one win against Qarabag, a tired 0–0 against Slavia Prague last time out and ongoing issues with precision, defence and attacking rhythm. Against second-placed PSG, this is likely to become their undoing quickly. Despite a slip against Monaco, PSG’s attack remains highly dangerous.
