The season is entering its final stretch and Matchday 32 brings plenty of excitement. The battle for the international spots is particularly intense: between the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, everything is tightly contested – every point can now make the difference. At the same time, the relegation battle is also heating up. Teams like Heidenheim, St. Pauli and Wolfsburg are fighting for every point to either secure survival or at least claim the relegation play-off spot.

Bayern vs. Heidenheim
FC Bayern impressively showed in Mainz why they are champions. Despite being 0–3 down, the Munich side turned the game around, mainly thanks to their incredible squad depth. Players like Olise, Musiala and Kane made the difference after coming on. Heidenheim, on the other hand, travel to Munich with renewed confidence. The important 2–0 win against St. Pauli keeps their slim hopes of survival alive, but in terms of play, FCH remain limited.

Eintracht Frankfurt are right in the race for the final international spots – but the recent dropped points in Augsburg were a setback. At home, a win against HSV is almost a must. While they still have a cushion above the relegation play-off spot, their form is clearly declining.

Bremen vs. Augsburg
Werder Bremen have stabilised recently and made another statement with a point in Stuttgart. Defensively in particular, the northern side looked disciplined and strong in duels. Augsburg, meanwhile, can play with freedom. Survival is secured and their form is improving. The draw against Frankfurt and the win in Leverkusen showed that FCA are currently a difficult opponent.

Union Berlin vs. Köln
Union Berlin suffered a setback with their defeat in Leipzig but remain in a relatively comfortable position. Six points clear of the relegation play-off spot with only three games left. 1. FC Köln showed a committed performance in the 1–2 against Leverkusen but wasted too many chances. That has been a recurring issue: the Billy Goats play well but rarely reward themselves.

Hoffenheim vs. Stuttgart
The 2–1 win at HSV was not spectacular, but extremely efficient. TSG took their chances ruthlessly and showed exactly the maturity needed in the final phase of the season. Stuttgart, on the other hand, seemed to pay the price after the exhausting cup clash with Freiburg and rotation against Bremen. In the 1–1 draw, VfB struggled for a long time and only improved after tactical adjustments.

Leverkusen managed to win the derby in Köln 2–1, but the performance showed clear weaknesses. The Werkself also benefited from Köln missing top chances. Leipzig’s form, by contrast, looks very different. The 3–1 win against Union was not only deserved but dominant for long stretches. RB created chance after chance, could have won by a bigger margin and currently look very stable.

St. Pauli vs. Mainz
For the Kiezkicker, this is a real relegation battle showdown. Seven games without a win, most recently the disappointing 0–2 in Heidenheim – the trend is clearly negative. Mainz, meanwhile, travel with mixed feelings. The 3–0 lead against Bayern was well worked and highlighted their attacking quality and quick transitions. However, the complete collapse after the break raises questions.

Gladbach vs. BVB
Gladbach remain in a difficult phase: five games without a win, most recently a 0–0 in Wolfsburg, and even there they missed the decisive punch despite a decent first half. BVB have done their homework. With a clear 4–0 win against Freiburg, Dortmund secured Champions League qualification and can now play with significantly less pressure.

The 0–4 defeat in Dortmund exposed major defensive problems – although under special circumstances, as there was heavy rotation after the intense cup schedule. Wolfsburg have at least collected small positive results in the relegation battle. The 0–0 against Gladbach was not particularly impressive, but showed that the Wolves can be defensively stable.

This match is a true relegation battle with guaranteed excitement – not because one team will sit deep, but because both sides are extremely close. Union Berlin (32 points, 13th place) face Köln (31 points, 14th place), direct neighbours in the table. A look down the standings shows: the gap to the relegation play-off spot (St. Pauli, 26 points) exists, but is far from safe. With three matchdays remaining, a win here could almost secure survival – for both teams.
At Union, the focus remains on new head coach Marie-Louise Eta. The start with two defeats was far from ideal. Now it is about initiating a turnaround, and this home match is perfectly suited for that.
FC Köln have recently shown they can compete, for example in their strong performance against Leverkusen. However, their biggest issue remains chance conversion – many opportunities, too few goals.
Prediction: This is a classic 50/50 game. Union have the home advantage, Köln sometimes look clearer in their play, but in the end efficiency will likely decide.
There is a lot at stake here: Stuttgart and Hoffenheim are level on points, only goal difference separates the two teams. This means: a win would be a hugely important step towards direct qualification for the Champions League, while a defeat could be very costly. Bayer Leverkusen are already lurking behind, increasing the pressure further.
TSG have looked stable recently. The 2–1 win at HSV was a typical Hoffenheim performance: not dominant, but extremely effective. This clinical edge could make the difference in the final stretch.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, seem slightly fatigued. After intense weeks (including the cup), VfB dropped points in the 1–1 against Bremen. The team showed resilience, but freshness is lacking in parts.

Leipzig have the chance to secure third place with a win and practically seal Champions League qualification. For Bayer Leverkusen, it is about staying in the race: three points would allow the Werkself to seriously challenge for the top spots and increase pressure on their rivals.
Leverkusen head into this top match with a win behind them – the 2–1 in Köln brings important points, but also highlights current issues. Despite the success, the performance was far from convincing. Köln had numerous high-quality chances, while Leverkusen looked defensively vulnerable and at times disorganised.
Leipzig currently appear much more stable. The 3–1 against Union Berlin was a clear statement: dominant for long stretches, creating many chances and showing a mature style of play. One key factor in this clash could be pressing: Leipzig will try to force Leverkusen into mistakes early – and that is precisely one of the Werkself’s biggest weaknesses.
Prediction: Leverkusen have the individual quality to keep this match open and will be dangerous at home. However, Leipzig currently have the more stable overall package. Their better structure, clearer game plan and greater consistency give them a slight edge.
