Game recognizes game

With the MERKUR Cash Cups, MERKUR is making its return to esports – and with a strong partner at its side: Berlin International Gaming (BIG), one of Germany’s most successful esports organisations.

The new tournament series builds on the concept of the former MERKUR Masters, which were among the largest national Counter-Strike tournaments, bringing together both amateur and professional teams.

As part of the partnership, BIG will now host six Counter-Strike 2 Cups every two months via the BIG Club on Faceit – the largest and fastest-growing CS2 hub in the DACH region. More than 115,000 members are active there, competing for prize money each month. With the MERKUR Cash Cups, this offering is being expanded to include an exciting new level of competition.

The goal of the initiative is to sustainably promote national esports in Germany and to offer players a professional, fair, and secure competitive platform.

With the MERKUR Cash Cups, MERKUR positions itself as a key player in the esports environment, sending a clear signal for the combination of entertainment, digital innovation, and fair competition structures. This esports comeback underlines the ambition to actively shape modern leisure culture – and to strike a chord with a new generation of players.
